It’s about time!! This blog has been a long time coming.. Though I’ve been sharing content on social media,.. the format forces me to keep things quite short and too brief sometimes. Hence this blog.. A place where I can share my fitness related knowledge, experience, my journey, inspirations, ideas, etc.. Hoping this blog evolves as my journey progresses…
My Story so far… in case you missed it 😉
Hiya.. I’ve been a designer by profession for the most part of my life.. Dabbled in most design-related outlets, starting with art, leather apparel, accessories, graphic design, textile design and jewelry design. I’ve always had a talent for design coming from a family of artists (Dad is an artist, graphic designer, art educator & Mom is an interior designer, art educator). So I was a natural (¯\_(ツ)_/¯). I’ve had a career in design with a lot of good experiences and accomplishments. (It will always be my lifeline kind of. I hope to get back into it somewhere in the future if I feel I need to) .
And now.. Fitness is my passion. I discovered it a little later in my life but it’s stuck with me now. I started this journey 6 years back. I read a book by a famous nutritionist and followed some of the advice given. I joined a gym close by and that’s how it began.. I needed to get healthy. Post my marriage for a first couple of years I had health issues and had to undergo treatment for the same. This had an adverse effect on my body, mentally and physically. My consistent workouts and better nutritional plan (though very basic at the time) helped me get healthier. I used to read a lot of books on fitness to learn more. Doing weight training along with cardio (got a treadmill and a few dumbbells way back then too) helped boost my metabolism and got me on the right track. Good choices! At this point my lady friends would ask for my advice.. And I noticed there were no trainers for women or that trainers in the gyms (no offense-a few are my friends) would give the same workouts to women and did not alter or give them fitness routines that would better suit them. A lot of women would work out or spend time in the gym with little to no results or be able to sustain the routines.. So, the conventional gym structure as a whole focuses more on the “body building” culture where guys come to work out to build biceps or get a six-pack. It was not women friendly and not general health or fitness oriented. (More on that later). I felt that I could help women or anyone else who needed guidance to help improve their health and fitness in a better way..
So, I did a course from Primal Patterns, got certified as a ACE Personal Trainer (American Council of Exercise- they are the best) and started my training career. It’s been a good journey so far. I’ve learnt a lot from top people in this field, my own training experience and of course the good people I train. It’s a very satisfying experience to help a person stay fit and improve their health. And my goal is to get them on this path for life. Since fitness has changed my life, my thoughts and perceptions for the better. It has given me a lot of growth both inside and out. That’s why I value it so much.
