Equipment for Home Training (Resistance)

Now that training at home has become the norm, here’s a list of basic equipment that will help you achieve your fitness goals. A good investment for the current times and future. Keeping these at home makes your training more sustainable in the long run and gives you the benefit of training with privacy and on your own terms.

You really do not need 10 different gym machines to improve your fitness or your physique. These simple free weights are used by athletes, body builders, cross fitters to train, build strength, gain muscle and perform better. And if weight loss is your goal, then you definitely need to use weights to lose fat and gain or preserve lean mass (muscle, bone, tissue).

The equipment listed is for resistance training of novices as well as advance trainees.

The Basics:

  1. Dumb bell
  2. Resistance Bands
  3. Barbell & Weight Plates

Other options that can be added to your home gym:

  1. Medicine Ball
  2. Kettle bell
  3. Stability Ball
  4. TRX Suspension Trainer
  5. Ankle Weights

For the fitness enthusiast, weight lifter (Advanced trainees)

  1. Pull Up bar
  2. Squat Rack
  3. Bench
  4. Bench Press Rack

Now that you have bought these, the next step would be to ensure that you get trained in the right technique to avoid injuries. While gym machines may let you get away with bad form and compensations especially the machines where you are seated; free weights are unforgiving. The wrong form or compensation can cause muscle & joint injury. But it is worth your while to learn the right technique as the results are better neuromuscular development, better posture, stronger bones, stronger core & good joint mobility. Flexibility & mobility are keys to good movement. If you have tight muscles and joints, please get professional assistance to help you improve them.

Happy Training as always! 🙂
